Are you prepared to submit your resume online?
Nowadays, many companies require that you submit your resume package online, where you are asked to copy and paste your resume and cover letter. Or, you may be required to send it through email, but not as an attachment.
When uploading your resume, you need to be cautious about what file formats are accepted. If you choose an incompatible format, you could either risk the recruiting managers not being able to open your documents or risk losing your resume formatting when the file is opened. Worse still, recruiters will note your inability to follow directions.
Although Microsoft Word is the most universally preferred file format by users, not all versions are compatible when uploading to the internet. Therefore, it is advisable that you have all your documents saved in a text version as well. Your text version career documents will enable you to conduct your job search online, hassle free.
