Have you ever stopped to think about what your ideal employment position would be like? If you haven't, you should. If you concentrate on searching for and securing your ideal position, you won't have to work a day in your life - or at least, it won't seem like work. Defining a clear job objective is vital to finding an ideal position. First, you need to determine what YOUR values, interests, skills, and preferred work environments are.
There are thousands of positions available and many different work environments. You may be miserable working in one position, but very happy working in another. And, you may not know it, but they could have the same job title. A job title and an objective are NOT the same thing - an objective is specific to YOUR needs.
If you had to determine the most important aspect of a position, would you choose money? Maybe you would when you were younger, but, as people mature and gain experience, they realize that there are more important values than money. Job satisfaction is rated number one - whether or not you enjoy getting up in the morning to go to work. At the end of your day, do you say, "What a great day!" or "Oh, another day, another dollar."
When determining the ideal position for you, consider these areas: necessary skills, special knowledge required, your values and interests, desired compensation, location, responsibility wanted, environment, type of co-workers, clients, and type of supervisor.
The lesson to be learned is that, before you conduct your job search, you should define or redefine your job objective. Then, determine what you need to do or attain in order to secure the position you really want.
We have helped many clients define their goals by conducting a career goals assessment. A coaching relationship will help determine YOUR ideal position - it is important, it makes sense, and it is a reasonable investment.
We look forward to partnering with you in the future,
